Last Christmas I, finally, had some time to read deeper and play around with some of the latest releases on the “virtual/cloud” world.

Playing with Office Live was a pleasant experience. Really powerful and with a different approach than the one offered by Google Docs & Spreadsheets. With the add-ins, you can share regular office documents on-line without loosing any office functionality; share a work session on-line. It is free. It worths a try.

Back from the Darkness, Back into Play…

It's been some time since my last post. Fortunately, many things have happened :). First, I had to completely reschedule my goals for the end of the year because of two new projects that appeared to be interesting: OpenSLIM and NMTools for OpenSLIM.

OpenSLIM stands for Open Simple & Lightweight Infrastructure Manager. It is a Lightweight CMDB with certain Program Management capabilities that may be useful for those who work on the IT Service Management space. We will talk about the vision, target and particular orientation this tool has on later posts :).

After the opening

After a few days of on-line activity, these are some interesting numbers:

  • OpenOMS total downloads: 76
  • OpenADM total downloads: 66

It seems clear to me that OpenOMS is a product easier to understand and also has a wider audience than the one OpenADM has. This is what I expected and I think this trend is going to be the same as target audiences are way different.

However, OpenADM will need some extra effort to successfully communicate what really is and the value-added proposition it represents. It is always harder to understand something you can't compare to something else, and ...
